OSU Law Professor Deborah J. Merritt’s application of Gallup’s Strengthsfinder 2.0 testing instrument was highlighted at the Professional Development Institute 2010 meeting Dec. 9 in Washington, D.C.
In a joint presentation with Steve Records of Gallup, Cynthia Pladziewicz, Chief Development Officer at Thompson & Knight LLP of Dallas, praised Professor Merritt’s work applying Strengthsfinder’s 34 character strengths to the learning styles and potential practice areas of law students. Pladziewicz has been using Strengthsfinder for the past several years in professional development work at her firm, where she also conducts group and individual coaching sessions for associates.
In testing both at Pladziewicz’s firm and the Moritz College of Law, the “Achiever” strength showed up as the top strength among test-takers. Â Strengthsfinder results show one’s top five strengths in rank order. According to Steve Records, only one person in 3 million will have identical strengths in an identical order.
Strengthsfinder 2.0 is a testing instrument used at I Can Fly, LLC, to help clients identify their most fulfilling practice areas and work styles.
